Activating your eSIM when you land: a 60-second checklist

Most connection problems abroad are not faults. They are one switch left in the wrong position. Work through this list in order and you will be online in about a minute.

Before you fly

• Install the eSIM at home over Wi-Fi — installation needs internet, and airport Wi-Fi is not something to rely on.
• Give the line a name you recognise, such as Roamledge, so you can find it later.
• Leave the plan switched off until you arrive if your phone lets you.

When you land

• Turn airplane mode off, then restart the phone. A fresh start makes it search for networks properly.
• Open settings and check the travel line is switched on.
• Turn on Data Roaming for that line. This sounds alarming but is required, and it does not add charges — your plan is prepaid.
• Set mobile data to use the travel line, not your home SIM.
• Wait up to two minutes for the local network to register.

If it still does not connect

Try selecting a network manually: in settings, turn off automatic network selection and pick one of the available operators from the list. If the first one refuses, try the next. This single step resolves most stubborn cases, especially in places with several competing networks.

Still stuck? Message support before you start deleting anything — a deleted eSIM cannot be reinstalled.

Keeping an eye on data

Check your remaining data in your account. Usage is reported by the network operator and updates every few hours, so treat it as a good estimate rather than a live meter. We will email you before you run low, and topping up takes a couple of taps.
